Students of our university’s Department of International Trade and Logistics carried out a technical visit to the Mersin Free Zone in order to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through on-site experience. Within the scope of the visit, students had the opportunity to observe firsthand the dynamics of the free zone, where the heart of international trade beats.
In the first stage of the technical visit, students were given a briefing by the General Manager of MESBAŞ, Mr. Edvar Mum. During the briefing, detailed information was shared regarding the role of free zones in Türkiye’s foreign trade, their logistical advantages, investor profiles, and the activities of MESBAŞ. Students had the opportunity to obtain direct information by asking questions they were curious about concerning the region.
In the continuation of the program, students visited the facilities of HDM Steel Pipe, one of the important companies operating in the free zone. In the briefing provided by company officials, information shared on production processes, export activities, and logistics operations strengthened the students’ sectoral perspectives.
The technical visit concluded with a visit to the Free Zone Port area. Students also had the opportunity to observe port operations, cargo handling processes, and port logistics on site.
