Logistics, which covers all processes of a product from the first producer to the final consumer such as transport, warehousing, customs clearance and distribution, is the most important of the activities that bring the goods we consume to us. As in the rest of the world, the logistics sector in our country has developed rapidly, particularly in recent years. International trade has also had a significant effect on the development of logistics.
As Türkiye is making progress towards becoming a logistics hub thanks to the advantage of its geographical location, the logistics sector needs well-trained and qualified human resources. In this sense, logistics is seen as one of the professions of the future.
The Department of International Trade and Logistics, which operates within the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Tarsus University, admitted its first students in the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. With four professors, four associate professors and three research assistants, one of whom holds a doctoral degree, the department provides education to more than four hundred undergraduate and graduate students.
STRATEGIC LOCATION
Tarsus is an important city for this sector due to its strategic location, close to Türkiye's second largest port in Mersin and to the logistics village in Yenice.

EDUCATIONEducation and Student Opportunities
Our undergraduate programme lasts 4 years (8 semesters) and consists of 240 ECTS credits. In addition to professional knowledge directly related to the field, such as import and export, customs and free zones, logistics and transport, students are also taught professional English. Through a compulsory internship of 30 working days, students gain the experience required by working life.
Depending on their preferences, our students may pursue a double major in the Finance and Banking or Customs Management programmes and a minor in various programmes, and they can gain study experience abroad through Erasmus+ exchange programmes.
Academic Advising
A faculty member is appointed as the advisor and a research assistant as the co-advisor for the students of each year. Students with honours, Erasmus, internship and double major or minor experience also support their friends as peer advisors.
Applied Education
Alongside theoretical courses, practice-oriented courses such as computer applications in foreign trade, customs legislation and logistics planning, a compulsory internship of 30 working days and sector career days allow our students to get to know the business world before graduation.
International Opportunities
Within the scope of Erasmus+, students have the opportunity to study at universities abroad; professional English courses prepare our students for international business environments.
Graduate Studies and Research
With our master's programme and the doctoral programme opened in the fall semester of 2019-2020, our department is one of the few state universities offering doctoral education in the field of International Trade and Logistics. Our Application and Research Centre serves all stakeholders.
